Terms
Last updated: 21 September 2026. Four short parts: the free app, the set-up call, the optional laptop pack, and the hosted waiting list. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
1. The phone app
What it is
Quote and Chase is a free web app for painters. You open it in your browser and may add it to your home screen. There is no account, no fee and no contract term. You may use it in your own business for as long as it is available. You may not resell it or pass it off as your own product.
Provided as is
The app is provided as is and as available, free of charge. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error free or available forever, and we may change or withdraw it. Because it runs and stores data on your phone, a version you have installed keeps working even if this website stops. To the extent the Australian Consumer Law allows for free software, we exclude other warranties.
Your data is on your phone
The app stores your business details, prices, clients, quotes and invoices on your phone and nowhere else. It does not back itself up. You are responsible for saving the back-up file and keeping it somewhere safe. We cannot recover data from a lost, reset or cleared phone.
You check every figure
The app prices work from your rates and from sizes that are measured from a photo, typed in, or scanned. Measuring from a photo is accurate to about one and a half percent when the sheet and the whole wall are in the shot, and less accurate when they are not. Typed sizes are only as good as the typing. Every quote, invoice and message is yours to check before it goes to a client, and you are responsible for the price you commit to.
The default wording is a starting point
The quote terms, warranty line, deposit rules, invoice headings and reminder texts the app ships with are a reasonable starting point for an Australian painting business. They are not legal advice and not tailored to you. You are responsible for complying with the building, licensing, contract, tax and consumer laws that apply in your state or territory, including licence numbers on documents, deposit caps, written-contract thresholds, when a document may be headed Tax Invoice, and the ACCC and ASIC debt collection guideline for reminders. The app warns about the rules it knows; it does not know them all.
Messages the app sends for you
If you connect SMS and email sending, the app will send quote follow-ups and invoice reminders in your name on the schedule you set, using your Twilio and Resend accounts, and will stop when you mark a quote accepted or an invoice paid. You choose whether to turn this on, which days and hour messages go, and you can hold or cancel any scheduled message from the app. Messages sent this way are sent by the app on your instruction and in your name. You are responsible for keeping the phone secure, for marking jobs accepted or paid promptly, for cancelling reminders when a client should not be contacted, and for the content of the message templates, which you can edit. We are responsible for the app doing what this page and the app say it does.
Third-party services are your accounts
Twilio, Resend, Stripe, Vercel and Google are separate companies. You open your own accounts with them, agree to their terms, and pay their fees directly. We do not take a cut and cannot act on your behalf with them. If one of them changes, fails or suspends your account, the related feature stops working until you fix it with them; the rest of the app keeps working.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the app, including a wrong price, a wrong measurement, lost data, or a message that was sent or not sent on schedule, whether you tapped Send or the app sent it on the schedule you set. Where the Australian Consumer Law gives you a guarantee we cannot exclude, our liability for a free service is limited to supplying the service again. Nothing in this section makes you liable for a defect in the app itself.
2. The plan and its messages
What you are buying
The app, and the messages it sends for you. You start with the free messages shown on the website when you sign up, and a plan adds the number of messages a month shown there. Everything is bought and cancelled by you inside the app, with no call, contract or notice period. While your subscription is live we: send the follow-up texts and emails your app schedules, through our own sending accounts (Twilio and Resend), on your instruction and in your business name; keep your app's sending switched on without you opening any account; and send you, on payment, one link that loads your business details and switches sending on. The app itself is free and is covered by part 1; nothing in this part is needed to use it.
What you supply
A working card, an email address we can reach you at, and the content of your own messages. You decide what the app sends, when it sends it, and to whom; you start the chasing on each job yourself, and you can pause or change any message at any time. Text and email content is yours and you are responsible for it, including that the people you message are your own customers.
Two phones
Where the website shows a two-phone plan and you buy it, the account carries two devices. Both quote and send in the same business name and draw on the same messages. Jobs are not shared between them: each phone keeps the work done on it, because we do not hold your jobs on a server. You set the second phone up from the first, and doing so again replaces that second phone rather than adding a third.
What a message is
One message is one text or one email we send on your behalf. A message you send yourself from your own phone is not one and is never counted. A reminder you schedule holds a message when it is booked and returns it to your balance if it is cancelled before it is sent. Messages included in a plan do not carry over: each billing period starts at the number shown on the website. Top-up packs bought in a period are used after the included messages and do not carry over either. A pack is charged to the card you already pay with, at the price shown in the app when you tap it. If you switch on automatic top-ups we buy a pack for you when your balance reaches zero, at most three times in one billing period, and you can switch it off in the app at any time. When your balance reaches zero we stop sending for you, and the app continues to write every message for you to send yourself; nothing else about the app changes.
Price, payment and cancelling
The price is the one shown on the website when you subscribe, in Australian dollars, charged by card each month in advance through Stripe until you cancel. You cancel from inside the app (Set-up, then Manage or cancel) or from the Stripe page we link to there, at any time and without telling us why. Cancelling stops the next charge; your sending keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, plus a few days' grace, then stops. We do not pro-rate part months. If a payment fails we keep sending for a few days and the app tells you your card needs fixing; if it is not fixed, sending stops when the token expires. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before changing the price; the new price applies from your next renewal after that notice, and you can cancel instead.
What sending through us means
Emails go out from our verified address with your business name as the sender and replies going to your email. Texts go out from our number, signed with your name and, where the app has one, your mobile; that number cannot take replies, and a customer who replies to it is sent an automatic text pointing them back to the contact details in the message. That reply passes through our provider and may be seen by us so it can be passed on to you. Message content and recipient details pass through our relay and sit in Twilio's and Resend's logs for up to 90 days, as they would with any sending service. We do not see your quotes, prices or jobs, which stay on your phone. We read a message only to fix one that failed. When you leave, we delete your sending token, and the logs held for it expire as above. Messages you schedule are sent on your instruction: you are responsible for their content and for cancelling any that should not go, and we are responsible for the relay doing what this page says. Sending is subject to fair use: we may pause an account that is sending to people who are not its own customers, or that is plainly being used for marketing to lists, and we will tell you why.
Our guarantee ("Thirty days, money back")
This guarantee is given by Quote & Chase, ABN , , , . It is in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Claiming costs you nothing but a sentence on the call or an email.
(a) Thirty days, any reason. If you email us within 30 days of your first payment asking for a refund, we refund that payment in full, whether or not you have already cancelled, and whether or not you have used it. One refund per business.
(b) If it did not send. If a follow-up your app scheduled did not go out because of our system, we fix it at no charge and put the message back on your balance, and if we cannot get your sending working within five business days of you telling us, we refund every month you have paid since it stopped working.
(c) On any refund or cancellation you keep everything on your phone: your prices, your jobs, your documents and your messages. The app keeps working, writing every message for you to send yourself, and you can turn the chasing back on later without losing anything.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.
What we are not responsible for
Whether your customers pay you, reply, or accept your quotes. Messages refused or delayed by a phone network, an email provider or a spam filter. Anything in a message you wrote or approved. The app's own figures, which part 1 covers, and which you check before anything goes out.
3. The laptop pack
What you are buying
Files and lessons, not the app. The app is free and separate. The pack gives you: the /quote, /invoice and /chase commands for Claude Code, a price list and quote wording in plain text, a practice job, seven short video lessons, the written guide, and email help with the set-up. You get a licence to use and change the templates in your own business on as many of your own computers as you like. What you make with them is yours. You may not resell or redistribute the templates or lessons. New versions of the files are included for twelve months from purchase; after that the files you have keep working. The videos are delivered by the date stated on the sales page when you bought.
What you need to supply
A Windows 10 or 11 PC or a Mac on macOS 13 or newer, an internet connection, and a Claude subscription purchased directly from Anthropic. Anthropic sets that price (about $30 to $35 a month at the time of writing) and its terms, and both can change; we have no control over them, and the pack cannot work without that subscription. The phone app does not need it.
The pack drafts, you send
The pack writes quotes, invoices and reminder messages as files on your computer. It does not send anything; you send from your own email or phone. Everything under "You check every figure" and "The default wording is a starting point" above applies to the pack too.
The 30-day guarantee
If you cannot produce a PDF quote with the pack within 30 days of the day the videos are delivered to you, email us and we refund the full price to the original payment method within five business days. We may ask what went wrong so we can fix it for the next person, but the refund does not depend on your answer.
4. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for new subscriptions at any time. For a subscription already running, we give at least 30 days' notice by email of any change that matters to you, and it applies from your next renewal after that notice; if you would rather not accept it, cancel before then and you are charged nothing further.
Consumer law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing on this page limits those rights.
